/leftyfashion/ Anonymous Comrade 02/15/2020 (Sat) 22:49:47 No. 6211
How do you dress? What are you wearing today? How should you dress, as a Marxist? Which trends are proletarian and which are bourgeois? Discuss.
>>6211 I'm currently wearing Black Combat Boots, Baggy Jeans, a white undershirt with a tshirt on top with the California Flag on it, a cotton and polyester weatherproof jacket and my plastic brimmed glasses. That's my get up most days. Jeans (lined ones as well cause the weather is awful in the Midwest), Boots of some kind, and usually a button up shirt or t shirt with alot being V necks.
Trick question. It's bourgeois to care about fashion trends in the first place.
>>6222 It's bourgeois to care about bourgeois fashion trends, but fashion existed in socialism, feudalism and even primitive communism, so it's not inherently bourgeois.
>>6223 you're probably petite bourgeoisie if you have a second to think about what trends to follow. i wear the same shit every day when i go to the coal mines

>>6224 Anon and the boys on lunch break
>>6211 Black overalls, grey long sleeve t-shirt, white undershirt, wire framed glasses, brown work boots, long wool coat, red scarf, flat cap I made myself. My typical daily attire or similar. I look for durable and practical clothing made from natural fibres. Sometimes I make my own clothing but I only make/buy new things as I need, repairing when possible which it usually is. Lucky enough to have been taught to sew as a child. Recommend learning how to at least repair busted seams and holes, sew patches properly, etc. I avoid anything obviously branded unless I can remove it, including graphic prints of any kind. Shoes are the exception to my branding rule, and size 16E makes it harder to even try so I get what I can get. I draw elements from people I have known and admired, in that way a lot of my clothing choices are purely aesthetic. The long coat and overalls combination I took from one of my earliest Marxist mentors. I put care into my appearance without concern for fashion trends or a conscious attempt to look one certain way. Avoiding more than I'm striving for. >>6223 Yes. All current trends you'll see pretty much start from bourgeois fashion companies. I believe it's an open secret that fashion trends are often planned years in advance. Capitalist trends change frequently so as to be exploited. Spring fashion, summer fashion, fall fashion, winter fashion, back to spring fashion but it's different this year and you need all of it as it comes out. Trends from non-capitalist societies tend to be longer lived and are often more varied(because how much variation is there really in contemporary clothing?), evolving naturally over longer periods of time. No specific trends are inherently bourgeois or proletarian, aside from maybe clothes made for practicality and labour that haven't been incorporated into bourgeois trends. But then can they still be considered fashion? I'll keep dreaming of the people's Yeezys.
>>6231 >Black overalls, grey long sleeve t-shirt, white undershirt, wire framed glasses, brown work boots, long wool coat, red scarf, flat cap I made myself. My typical daily attire or similar. sounds borderline LARP but possible to pull off if done properly.
>>6225 damn straight
>>6231 >Black overalls, grey long sleeve t-shirt, white undershirt, wire framed glasses, brown work boots, long wool coat, red scarf, flat cap I made myself. My typical daily attire or similar By any chance you post on /fa/?
>>6233 I think that sometimes, but it goes over well. At the very least it's distinctive without being over the top. Nothing compared to my goth teenage years when I cared an incredible amount about my clothing, hair, looks in general. I wear things that make me feel good about myself now, not things I'll regret. >>6236 Nope.
This is what I usually wear. Black cargo pants , white t-shirt , steel cap boots (black & polished, but worn), I have a straw hat since it is summer, but in winter I wear a knitted cap and a black winter coat, and a East German army surplus coat with the badges removed (they are kept in a folder as collectables) if it is especially cold.
Black fake gucci hoodie, grey literally 10+ years old streetwear shirt of a brand called addict, red lacoste belt, blue jeans, nike socks, worn out vans
>>6661 forgot black tnf baseball cap
them blue work pants, some 5 year old runners, a grey tshirt, an austrian army coat and a beanie. I reckon I look like ass but hey its comfy
>>6231 >red scarf no.
>>6222 > It's bourgeois to care about fashion trends in the first place. No, it's not. There's nothing wrong with fashion and fashion trends, both will exist under full communism as well. Except under communism there will be no exploitation involved in the creation process of fashion products.
>>6211 Work boots, blue jeans, flannel shirt, baseball cap. I was a real image-conscious /fa/ggot when I was in high school but when I started working I stopped caring about that shit.

This workwear trend is actually kinda neat if you are trying to secretly LARP as Lenin or Mao or someone. The styles of cuts, collars, and pockets that are on some of these items are very practical and old-fashioned.
>>6674 y not? ;3
when going out, I usually just wear a black hoodie and some darker jeans.
>>6211 With clothes usually. Sometimes I take them off while taking a bath. But that's only if the moon is in the 4th position from saturn
Usually i wear all black or generally dark colors, leather jacket, fingerless gloves, sunglasses when the sun is up and my messenger bag whenever i need it. Not really trying to look badass or tough.
currently wearing a weezer shirt with tan pants that are cuffed at the bottom.
>>6211 I use black steel-toed boots, brown cargos, black t-shirt, militar style jacket, a buzzcut and a Fidel cap with the red star Its a bit larpish but I dressed with a black matrix trenchcoat in high school so this is definitely an improvement
Y'all have any advice on how to get better at fashion
fuck fashion
>>7200 Clothing that fits well is more important than anything else. You are better off getting stuff from a thrift store and then bringing it to a tailor rather than buying an expensive brand. If you're not fat, most American stores will not have stuff that fits you. Be somewhat opinionated. Think of the public or historical figures whose clothing you like. Or think of a certain theme or style. Or a color combo. Then try to achieve it.
>>7201 continue anon what exactly is fuck fashion
>>6222 Unironically this.
>>7153 >Its a bit larpish but I dressed with a black matrix trenchcoat in high school so this is definitely an improvement Hahaha no doubt
>>7201 This How you want to dress kids isn't with the changing whims of fashion; Rather dress with style
Hey guys, fashion has a board now! https://bunkerchan.xyz/fash/catalog.html Time to show your fellow anons timeless styles that will really make people stand up and take notice!

>>10505 Absolute garbage, is even worse than that bloody anarchist jacket that sells for ~150$
How do we educate those who wear Che tshirts and don't lift, or those who dress as though it's the 1920's? I've been to too many events, meet ups, and protests to be able to stomach that 18yo or god forbid that 28yo dressed as though they just discovered he word "revolutionary". And Material Conditions your fucking greasy hair damn it!
>>10560 >those who dress as though it's the 1920's That shit is just fine. 1920s was classy as fuck.

I always wanted to ask this What is the type of jackets stalin and lenin were wearing in this photo? The clothes look very comfy.
I just want to look fresh not look like a LARPer lol >>6713 only /fa/ thing posted ITT
>>10568 the red and gray look good because it seems to be some folds and buttons all of these are just regular clothes with shit tacked on. wtf this for the adult child market lol.
>>10572 and by red i mean the top one not the cringy royal one in the bottom.

Where do you buy clothes? Shops make me want to burn everything, you have to spend 3 hours to find one interesting thing in a thrift shop and online is a joke. The only satisfying way for me is borrowing from my parents.
>>10587 Wasn't this guy a literal larper/cosplayer/false-flag/whatever?
>>10589 I also find it satisfying to borrow clothes from your parents.
>>10590 he is/was an autistic LARPer
>>6211 Anyone have those 'dress like him' memes from 2018, with Lenin?

Reposting an important piece in regard to crap like pic related. The idea that capitalism in any way expect uniformity is deceitful. You are not rebelling against capitalism by being different, you can't rebel against consumerism by consuming. In fact the idea that if you want to rebel you should not wear a suit and instead you should get some dumb denim vest with a bunch of patches, is one propagated by capitalism in an effort to commodify revolutionary sentiment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xccCsByav0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2qAy4k8vFI https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rebel_Sell TL;DR: read The Rebel Sell and remember the Volcom slogan of "Youth against establishment"
>>6713 workwear being trendy is slightly annoying as the usually decent supply of work wear in the thrift stores gets snatched up - but I expect it will cycle back in once the trend expires. I just wish they made more workwear (incl gloves and equipment) in smaller sizes - it seems like half of these brands start at L and go to like XXXXXL why is everyone Paul fucking Bunyan?
(28.25 KB 408x612 Kontraktor.jpg)
>>12017 >it seems like half of these brands start at L and go to like XXXXXL why because burger make big boy.
>>12018 like 90% of the construction workers where I'm at are 5' hispanic dudes but I guess Wrangler doesn't give af if they aren't buying big&tall mossy oak coveralls and ford raptors

>>6211 >How do you dress? Like this.
>>12243 Lol, this literally just is the way I look during autumn and early spring. Why is it even called terrorwave?
>>12271 >Why is it even called terrorwave Because that's how terrorists dress to stay inconspicuous.

What's this type of jacket called?
>>13213 Deep fomo, does anybody know chinese know what's going on here? Why isn't this shit auto-translated by youtube, fascist fucks!
>>13438 Pretty sure that’s just a Zhongshan/Mao suit.
I hear historical ball gowns (victorian era mainly) were pretty comfortable and accomadated many body types, as opposed to the mermaid gown stuff today, might look bourgious, but it also looks nice and is out of fashion, assuming you can find a non-exploitative way to make one, go for it, the world's burning anyways, just don't wear the gown for practical occasions and you'll be fine, also any clothing is unisex iffin you aren't a pussy about it
>>6211 When I dress up for a night out or date? Menswear. I can rock it. When I'm going around not at work? 5.11 tuxedo. Kill me. I dress like trash, and I'm not even 30 yet.
Literally suit and tie everyday and i'm jobless.
>>13800 Wtf why
>>13800 Do you review fast food by any chance?
>>6211 don't want to sound like an idolfag but what was the style of marx's beard? it looked almost like an elongated jaw

>>14696 I kinda like the first one, second one looks too much like cowboy shoes with the engraved silver.
>>12013 Imagine showing up to a protest wearing this and there' like five other dudes wearing it there lmao
>>6713 I sort of want to get a mao suit and wear it unbuttoned over a t-shirt. Would that look stupid? I want to wear it like a jacket.
Dark blue jeans Wool Hoody/ hiking coat/ old Cagoule/Work Coat Generic trainers or boots Solid colour t-shirt Casio watch (the illuminator one, not the super basic one, the one that costs about $5 more) Surplus coat in the winter Old backpack <Me, 90% of the time I guess I'm kind of terror-wave? I feel like don't fucking care-wave most of the time, I like my clothes but I'm very aware I'm not making much of an effort, I stand out a bit in the didn't really bother kind of way in bars and stuff because of it, I look super plain which annoys me a little sometimes I'm thinking about getting some nicer clothes to combat this but at the same time I cringe everytime I get the urge to consoooom something new I don't really need, and I like having tons of pockets and high quality stuff like my coat, which is very functional and well made but isn't very fashionable or sexy, I have like 2 pairs of Jeans and a couple pairs of work trousers and maybe 10 t-shirts and a couple jumpers, I'm tight as fuck about buying fashion clothes precisely because most of the stuff seems really poorly made and fucntionally limited for what you pay, even though I have a ton of technical clothing for outdoorsy stuff, which is the only reason I own these very good boots and the Coats I own I do mindlessly consoom second hand clothes off ebay though, but its hard finding stuff that both looks good and fits me and is worth getting, I really want an anorak but I can't find a good one for sale at non retarded prices and mostly I end up buying old workwear that doesn't fit me that I either return or pass off to my worky family members, who actually use it for its intended noncringe purpose How do I get better at dressing?
>>14971 >How do I get better at dressing? wear things that will protect you from the weather and try to find clothes that overlap with that basic criteria by also looking good on you
>>14696 Looks like something a final fantasy character would wear.
>>15217 Yeah but how tho I have no idea what looks good on me
