I enjoy looking at cute anime girls. Its the only /hobby/ in this world that brings me joy. Am I mentally ill?

I prefer looking at real women tbh
It's called depression and disillusionment caused by social alienation which is created by capitalism. Go to the self-improvement thread and ask for help.
Well for the former >>>/anime/ is the place for you, as for /hobby/ well that's the point, some escapism is a necessity for human life.
>>13955 That's a series of pixels, not a real woman.
>>13875 Looking at cute anime hoes isn't bad. I like the 2D thots too, but if it's the only thing that brings you joy, then you might be isolating yourself and turning to this as a sort of drug. I'd advice you to seek some help. I say this as a man that loves anime and 2D waifus, but I have more hobbies, and it's a bit odd not to have more. Now if you're perfectly happy and productive, making strides to new goals and so on, then you're okay, but if it's the only thing that gets you happy during the day, then this might be a sign of mental illness. Don't worry, I also take meds. Nothing wrong with that.
>>13875 Why did you post an empty picture?
>>13875 Eh while I'm a bit away from that level of depression, I admit tat I only come to this site for a specific set of esoteric leftypol threads (that are all at least 2 months old) and for hobby and anime.
>>13875 You are based.

>>13955 but real women have noses, fuck real women. I like women without noses, and anime girls don't have noses.
>>13875 you're about as mentally ill as anyone who smokes, drinks or does literally anything to cope with existence, including "self-improvement" kids that think they're bringing about revolution by doing some situps
Japanese animation is the only thing worse than Cal art. Its boring, never fucking changes and constantly descends into retarded tropes that are "charming" only to retards who forced themselves to like them (and children). At least Cal art limits its cancer to the animation style, and not the presentation. Don't get me started on porn. Hentai is only "good" because it is only really developed drawn porn out there, aside from furry stuff (which, if you aren't put off by it, is infinitely fucking better and constantly makes me think "man, I'd love to see this but with humans"), and any fanfic r34 made in a non-3d and non-anime style btfos the shit out of hentai. So what I am saying that we need to avoid a centrist position, say no to the left and right deviations, and say no to both anime and Cal art. Wanted to post, but remembered the fact that it is not necessarily all of Japanese cartoons that are like this. Animatrix is a proof of how much inventive shit there could be. However, for one reason or another, it is the shittiest style that has won out.
Anime is the black tar heroin of the animation
Yes.
>>14260 oh for fuck's sake not this faggot again.
(20.44 KB 474x472 really_not_an_argument.jpg)
>>14589 Can’t write a counterargument if there is no argument. “Muh calarts style” or “muh anime style” is not an argument, it’s a show of obliviousness
>>14633 I'm sorry, but the fact that both Western (well, not western, but Burger) animation AND Asian cartoons stagnated into one accepted style that never fucking changes, and in the later case also leads to never changing tropes in the cartoons as well is bot up to the question. So unless you think ot is totally a good thing when all art looks the same, and even acts the same, shut the fuck up.
>>14663 yes i do think it is good that your shitty little children's cartoons stagnated into a single art style anime has had the same """art style""" since the fucking 70s
>>14665 >It is good that the artform stagnated <Why >Because I don't like the art form Ok barbarian. Its not even that I like cartoons, just that it is univerally bad for any artform to stagnate like this.
>>14666 Ah yes, i am the barbarian because i don't get pissed over an "artform" like children's cartoons stagnating, under your opinion.
>>14663 >Asian cartoons stagnated into one accepted style Yeah you have no fucking clue what you're on about. Take your "muh animation" bitching to the animation and artstyle thread.

Seems a fitting thread to post this. r/Animemes recently altered their rule #5 (be nice) to include banning the word trap. The userbase went ballistic with 10K people leaving, so the mods are planning to reverse the ban. r/ANICOMMUNISM has been bitching about this being "trasnphobic" for so long that its outright boring, but I thought I'd let y'all "weebs" know. IMO, people who whine about the word trap being "transphobic" don't know what they're talking about and are just virtue-signaling. To quote one intelligent user, "The word has NOTHING to do with trans people. If in not mistaken, trans people are people that are born one gender but would rather be / identified as the other, and that's totally fine. Everyone can do what they want with their life, and if the want to identify as the other gender then so be it. A Trap in an anime-sense is a dude dressing like a girl, but he isn't trying to be one. It's a guy that likes to dress like a girl, or the other way around. I'm not looking at a picture of a trans person and think "haha a trap" because that is factually not the case. And a bear trap isn't the only trap there is. By definition, a trap also is a trick intended to deceive someone, so calling these characters something else than a trap is wrong. The problem is not the word trap, it's the people that misuse the word trap in the community, and it's these people you should crack down on." Also just for context, the whole 'trap' meme comes from a reference to the Admiral Ackbar meme from Star Wars "it's a trap" which weebs on 4chan used way back in the early 2000s. Trans people weren't even on the RADAR when this meme was being made.
>>14676 r/Animemes banned the word "Trap" as it was somehow seen as "offensive" and a "slur". Ironically however, most, if not all, traps real or imagined self-identify as male, making the mods the transphobes.
>>14676 trap was often used on in early days of chan culture to refer to what we would today call trans people, like bailey jay. I don't care either way but this line >Trans people weren't even on the RADAR when this meme was being made. is at best a half-truth.
(137.66 KB 768x929 1591262738745.jpg)
>>14678 Early internet/chan culture which had the word trap, had this word as both a positive signifier, which would lead to tumblr trans culture and all the way forward to trans erp discord servers today. And as a negative signifier, which would lead to /pol/ and all the hatred and paranoia about "discord tr*nnies". Most people seem willing to write "trap" off as a reactionary slur and throw the baby out with the bath water. Seems like an uphill battle to reclaim it, but I can't look down on the effort as that's similar to what is going on with /leftypol/.
>>14678 >refer to trans people <bailey Jay Uhhh no. That was /pol/ co-opting /a/ shit. Crossdressers/dragqueens (transvstites) and transgender people are different m8. Hell the very fact that weebs and /a/-fags constantly state that traps does not refer to trans people implicitly proves that the majority of people who use the word "trap" are NOT referring to trans people. >>14680 Fucking this.
>>14678 True, but then decrying it for being a slur instead of a fetish like femboys in general, tbh that just happens to superficially resemble a gay panic defense doesn't seem to make any sense. It's literally just being asshurt that it originated on /b/ of all places
>>14680 >And as a negative signifier, which would lead to /pol/ and all the hatred and paranoia about "discord tr*nnies". Is this really true though? For one, trap is really only used in weeb spaces, I've very rarely if ever seen the word trap in /pol/; it's mostly dilate spam and calling everyone a tranny.
