Can we talk about how counter-intuitive the set-up of bunkerchan is? Anonymous 10/16/2020 (Fri) 20:15:54 No. 7719
Guys, something needs to change. After /trash/ was yeeted from the board for arbitrary and unwise reasons, /IG/ basically turned into /trash/ because all other boards are dead and noone want's to post there. Hell /IG/ turned into /mu/ for a little while because /hobby/ is fucking dead and noone wants to post there. Don't believe me? Look at the fucking thread. This board needs generals where people can actually except to get some responses and feedback on the stuff they do. >People can just go to other boards Yeah but they don't, cuz they're dead. Look at how /IG/ turned into /mu/, that's how much of a hassle it is to post on other boards, let alone dead boards. >Those generals would take up space What, valuable space taken up by threads such as: CORN MAN BAD-thread, which rightly would belong on /GET/ or whereever trash went? >>1003375 Why explore space-thread, which one easily could argue belongs on /edu/ >>976189 A fucking joke-thread on Nixon >>1003770 What quality are we preseving by effectively banning all disscussion on hobbies, tv and games? What valuable space are we free up for more important discussions? also WHY THE HELL IS THE MOD-FEEDBACK THREAD HIDDEN ON /GULAG/ WHERE NOONE CAN SEE IT This is a great move if you want to make sure that mods can be made as little accountable to the user-base as possible, and it's against good praxis of any leftist who believe that the masses and adiminstrators should have direct, open and clear relations. Okay, it's well and good that you guy don't wanna delete the comatose boards that are not /leftypol/, but for god's sake, stop this over-moderation of what content belongs on the only non-dead board, because it makes the chan as a whole much worse and much more limited in terms of content.
>>7751 Seconding this
>>7762 >This is like going on /a/ and complaining that you can't post about /x/ topics. It would be like that, if /a/ was the only board that wasn't dead on 4chan, and if it was, then that's exactly what I'd do.
>>7764 >Tfw I’m outnumbered and nobody agrees with my hardcore autistic position so I try to continually sage the thread to kill it but fail anyway
>we need general threads Clearly image boards aren't for you, OP. Consider another forum format.
>>7764 >There's a million places to discuss movies, video games, whatever. There's even a board on here. t. someone who has never posted on /tv/ or tried out the dead fucking boards on this chan
>>7770 Exactly These arguments come from the people responsible for Bunkerchan being filled with a shit ton of dead, unused boards Funny how that works
>>7769 Yes clearly chans have always been about being slow-moving. What?
>>7767 That's dumb, you are dumb
>>7771 Yeah, because they don't give a shit about media-discussion or people having fun or whatever, they don't care if the boards are dead or not, they just want it banned because it triggers them or they think it's "improper" or something
can we have a /jav/ general too
Wow It’s almost like there’s a concerted effort to make this entire website utter shit that’s further promoted by the fact that it’s basically impossible to reach the mods and any forum discussion is shunted here so no user feedback can actually occur I miss 8ch 😞
>>7774 >Hehe if you criticize the mods you must be from /pol/! Kys
>>7777 >>7778 The mods certainly aren't doing themselves any fucking favours
>>7777 Well here I am, I'm a mod, talk to me, what's up?
>>7783 Mate, the topic was written by OP, I don’t get why this was put here, I’m just here in support because I agree with OP and was in agreement with the other thread regarding the prevalence of dead boards
>>7784 Okay well, don't say it's impossible to reach the mods then. To be honest I think it was a mistake to move all feedback to /gulag/ as well but come on it's hardly like we're unreachable.
>>7783 Dear mod. Please read the thread. Also, why are question about theory and how it applied to moderation, when these are inquires as to theory, also moved to this dead board, and why is it important that as few people as possible interact with these threads?
Jannies are fucking idiots, for marxksts there are no just separate politics, economics, history, culture etc. Marxist approach is a holistic approach, marxism can be about movies, games, whatever Mods are just spergs, this is why we need working democracy, leftypol proves that vanguard attracts autistic spergs who hate fun.
>>7793 >Mods are just spergs, this is why we need working democracy, leftypol proves that vanguard attracts autistic spergs who hate fun. THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS Even vanguards would at least consult with the people. The current approach is fundementally non-marxian
>>7783 Merge games anime and hobby in one please.
>>7797 Also stop banning /games/, /tv/ ect generals it's a stupid fucking idea for reasons stated ITT
Imagine you are writing for ASS Daily and suddenly start putting out articles about the social history of the Bretagne. This would greatly anger and confuse your readers. Writing for ASS Daily there is an expectation that your output has a connection to ASS.
>>7800 Imagine ASS Daily was the only paper in the country. Would it be good to ban all other topics from ASS Daily, when ASS Daily is the only chance these issues would have of getting any attention at all?
>>7801 It is not. Putting every topic under the sun into one publication would be a disaster.
>>7801 WHY ARE YOU RELEGATING THE SOCCER MATCH RESULTS TO THE SPORTS SECTION OF THE NEWSPAPER YOU ARE LITERALLY TANKIE FASCIST VANGUARD AUTHORITARIANISM FASCIST AND RUINING MY LIFE
>>7803 >>7804 It would be, if not the population was too small for each topic to get it's own paper This is why we have a lot of local papers that essentially writes about everything under the sun. This is also why 4chan can have seperate boards and bunkerchan can't. Also, we're not a paper you rubes. A board doesn't traslate to a section in a paper. If it did, then what would a general be?
>>7805 I tire of this. I and I assume many others visit /leftypol/ for political discussion, that is indeed very intuitive. A metaphor is not supposed to map 1:1 to what is being compared, that would be impossible, ya dingus.
>>7806 >I tire of this. I and I assume many others visit /leftypol/ for political discussion, that is indeed very intuitive. I 100% agree. Now is media and entertainment 100% "apolitical" and or cannot be discussed or analyzed through a political or theoretical lens? If it is apolitical, what are politics then? How do we regulate it? Are "CORN MAN BAD" memes politics now? >A metaphor is not supposed to map 1:1 to what is being compared, that would be impossible, ya dingus. Then don't use them when they don't provide an actual answer. I have underlined the MULTIPLE problems with the current system, and you have offered no solution to any of it. You haven't tried to dispute the math, you haven't tried to refute the importance of these discussion and you haven't suggested an alternative. you argue with feels not with reels.
>>7807 What? The alternative is putting things where they belong. Imagine a cupboard: A well organized cupboard is vastly superior to one where everything is thrown into random places.
>>7807 Everything is political. Check out any of the boards. They are all political discussions.
>>7808 >What? The alternative is putting things where they belong Yeah, nobody does that tho, as the numbers indicate, they're placing the cups on the table. Now, the current solution is that any glass on the table is thrown on the ground and thus we have a bunch of smashed glass and maybe 3 cups in the actual cupboard. Now, another solution would be to place a box on the table (a general) where cups could be put into, and thus break way less glass, while also dealing with the reality of noone using the actual cupboard. >>7809 >Everything is political. Check out any of the boards. They are all political discussions. Yes, everything is politcal. Thus, as /leftypol/ is where you go for politcal things, everything should be able to be on /leftypol/. think.
>>7808 >What? The alternative is putting things where they belong. So just to reitterate: We've tried this for a while and it doesn't work. It is thus not a solution, but a problem.

>>7719 Oh my fucking god are you still whining about "muh hobby"!!!! >generals would take up space On the top page idiot, and nobody says that those thread should stay up either. >/IG/ turned into /mu/ Sharing eceleb generic pop music is not /mu/ content >cuz they're dead Nope. PPH is not only a poor metric but is also broken on the site. I made 3 posts and got 2 replies on hobby within an hour yet PPH read only 1 PPH during that time, somehow that doesn't make sense. Moreover given that the top threads of hobby are constantly having a steady stream of replies and posts, you're wrong, and the same applies to /games/ and /anime/ SO FUCK OFF YOU FUN-HATING TWAT
Semi-related but what’s with the utter schizo faggots here that think fucking anyone that criticizes their stupid as shit repellent positions is secretly a raider from /pol/? And it’s always specifically people that oppose reactionary as fuck positions too
>>7820 >SO FUCK OFF YOU FUN-HATING TWAT >says the twat that purges any fun discussion from leftypol Listen lad, you need to understand that not everyone is *special* like you, not everyone is an autist who likes posting on a dead board and talking to himself. Some people we can call them normal want more live discussion with feedback and all, ok? I know it's hard to get it for an autist, but people are different.
>>7824 >posting on image board >normal I would say pick one, but since your posting here, I can tell which one you are

>>7790 I read the thread, I think maybe we could be a bit easier on 'leftist music' threads or whatever on leftypol, but at the same time that annoys some people too who think it's obstructive and people should go the altboards. As for 'theory and how it applies to moderation', there's no way to do a direct democracy on this board when /pol/ or just random autists could stack any voting to go the way they want, so you could consider us as vanguardists or whatever if you want, we try to generally go with what the users want but you have to remember that no matter how strongly you feel about whatever issue you're not the only person that uses this board. We have to take everyone's opinion into account (including our own) not just yours. The moderation feedback was moved to this board in order to clear space on /leftypol/ and reduce the constant back and forth shit flinging that was always present in the mod feedback thread. As I said I didn't agree with that decision but it was voted on among us so we have to go with it. >>7793 >you're a sperg for not wanting your toilet in the same room as your fridge, the separation is only arbitrary, marxism is a holistic approach >>7796 The topic about /leftyb/ or whatever we did like three days ago is us consulting with the people, what more can we do besides ask you personally what you want before every decision and just do what you say? >>7797 People really wanted those boards and I think it would be bad to merge them, yes it's a little slow but not unusable, merging them would push a lot of stuff off the catalogs and people would be angry at it. When we just had /hobby/, people were super duper pissed about it. >>7809 >>7810 Don't be pedantic, yes many of the topics on 'games/ etc have a political bent but they also veer off well out of the purview of /leftypol/ many times to talk about gameplay and stuff not related to politics at all. >>7824 Yes anon, as you said, some people have different opinions to you, so stop acting like yours is the only valid one.
>>7734 this is very autistic. people don't use imageboards by just looking at the first thing presented to them.
(311.52 KB 300x169 WROOOOONG.gif)
>>7824 >the twat that purges any fun discussion Nobody is banning your "muh Cornboy/Denge/ poljack meme thread Number 234" If you want to discuss a movie, use the board for it, and stop being a retard about it. >not everyone is an autist who likes posting on a dead board <talking to himself <hobby has at least 40 Unique IPs every day, and this number changes Yeah see not everyone is special like you because they can't compartmentalize things and follow basic fucking rules. >we can call them normal <we are now pandering to normies on /leftypol/ <we are reaching r/socialism levels of idiocy >more live discussion <live discussion is when people post bait OPs and people scream expletives and call each other faggots for 100 posts and then the thread dies with nary a thing to show for it >hard to get it for an autist, but people are different. <the autist whining about boards he doesn't even visit because "muh rules" calls someone else an autist Mr. Pot? The Kettle called, he says you're BLACK!
>>7826 Thank you based pony-mod
>>7734 Hobby was established in 2019 in November, and most of its older, dead threads are stuff from Old /tech/ that was transferred while renovating it. /hobby/ lost about 200 posts to /anime/ when various anime threads were transferred there. and about 1000 posts to /games/ when those threads went there. Taking these facts into account, Over roughly 11 months there have been 1000-1200 posts per month on hobby. More realistically, it's several thousand posts in the first 6 months and now a couple hundred per month in the past 5, making up roughly 50-100 posts per week. This is slow, but not dead. PPH doesn't take into account the hours of inactivity at night. At 4 in the morning, /leftypol/'s PPH is fucking 20-30 and even that is mostly just shitposting and bumps.
>>7835 >PPH doesn't take into account the hours of inactivity at night >inactivity at night >at night AT NIGHT FOR WHOM?! WHAT EUROS AND CENTRAL ASIANS DON'T COUNT ANYMORE?!
>>7837 How many central Asians do you think use the board? I'm sure there's some but West/Central Europe and USA make up at least 80% of posts, when it's late night in USA and early morning in Europe the site slows down.
>>7838 >How many central Asians do you think use the board? Okay, so europeans and central asians can just go fuck themselves if they wanna talk about games in a thread that gets responses?
>>7837 Dude, I have literally done a thing where I stayed on bunkerchan until 4 in the morning and the posts were low AF at night all Summer. The majority of users are not Eastern Eurasians.
>>7839 >they wanna talk about games in a thread that gets responses Or you just use your brain and agree to follow the rules and POST in the appropriate board? Eh?
>>7853 Okay so it's >It's only slow at night so it's not a problem <well I'm not american so I'm affected by the adversly >fuck you then, we made the rules for the community to serve, not for the rules to serve the community
>>7857 1) There is more than 1 poster 2) >only slow at night so it's not a problem That wasn't the fucking point. The point is that activity and PPH is inaccurate and depends on time and subject (and numerous other details) >we made the rules for the community to serve Actually we made rules that were agreed upon by the community, and the community should stick to them. Moreover that is an utter fallacy, because the point is that activity is low at night., this has nothing to do with "muh thread getting responses" since your argument was disregarding time utterly. Nobody is going to be responding either way, so the point is nil.
>>7858 >Moreover that is an utter fallacy, because the point is that activity is low at night., this has nothing to do with "muh thread getting responses" since your argument was disregarding time utterly. Okay, the reason I am disregarding the time of day reletive to the US is that' if you don't you are doing to get results that are american-centric and only takes American needs and voices into account. This is the reason I have calculated average PPH, because internationalist perspectives and inclusiveness matters on social platforms and ought matter even more so on leftist ones. >That wasn't the fucking point. The point is that activity and PPH is inaccurate and depends on time and subject (and numerous other details) Okay, then tell me a way in which we may measure the kind of activity that goes on at the smaller boards and I'll happily try to measure that for you. Would you be more happy with an experiment where only certain hours of the day are considered, and not just for single threads, but for the entire board. Would that produce a result that in your mind would be more reliable to you? If not, then what would? Unless you're saying that comparative statistical analysis is completely invalid and you don't care about it, because then your beliefs as to how the chan is supposed to function is not based on anything I can prove or disprove. >Actually we made rules that were agreed upon by the community, and the community should stick to them. Any policy, even those that are originally established democratically ought be considered for revision if those rules are don't conform to the needs and actions of that community. Whithout drawing moral equivalence, it's like catholics insisting that their priests ought be celibate - sure they want that to be their policy, but it's still a stupid rule that turns them to a lot of rape and molestation and thus is one that ought be reconsidered. >Nobody is going to be responding either way, so the point is nil. See, this is interesting? How do you know this? How have we measured this and know it to be a fact? I have done some data-collecting that indicates that even if it is more quiet "at night", there's still way higher chance of a response on /leftypol/ proper If you have got any reason that responce would be nil either way, or any data that indicates this is true, but if not I really implore you to reconsider how certain you are of this being a fact.
