/hobby/ Mod feedback thread. Comrade Board volunteer 10/23/2019 (Wed) 16:57:58 No. 5534
/hobby/ Mod feedback thread Hello everyone, and welcome to /hobby/! This topic will serve as an introduction as well as the mod feedback area. I know that some people were not on board with our decision to merge the boards, but please give it a chance and hopefully you will find it to be as comfy as where you used to hang out, but with more population. In addition, Comrade King has kindly volunteered to migrate over all the topics that have had activity in the last few weeks so you can continue your conversations. However, I want to stress that this board should be treated as a clean slate and you should make use of the freedom that it allows. In this space feel free to make topics about any kind of hobby, entertainment, passtime, interest or vocation. These topics don't have to be related to leftism, though of course you should feel free to do so if you would like. Overall, this board is intended to give refugees of 8chan somewhere to post about their favourite interests without having to go into whatever new skinhead-infested DoD honeypot is created to replace it. An example of the kind of topic that might be encouraged is to start a topic discussing your favourite workout routines or recipes, or discussing an interesting movie that has recently been released. We would encourage people to put effort into their OPs however, as one line shitposts might be more comfortable on /GET/. As we have merged other boards in order to create /hobby/, we would like to remind all users that it is possible for more boards to be created in future out of /hobby/ if they demonstrate a good user count/post volume such that they would be able to support a board on their own. Overall, the moderation standards here are similar to the ones on /leftypol/, and I have included their manifesto for reference, with the exception that posts do not have to have a political slant or basis. I hope you will all enjoy this board together and that we can have some good conversations.

Press the nine tiles button on he top right to see all threads
Is there a thread for making visual editing requests? I looked thru catalog but couldn't find one. Anyway I guess this is the right board for that stuff right?
>>5586 Could you explain a little more what you mean? Sound like the OC thread would be a good place for that.
>>5586 Yes I would use the OC thread for that. Though be considerate and don't spam requests too much.
Since we have drastically reduced numbers of boards it would be paramount to have threads bumplock at 750 posts like 8chan leftypol did. This is especially useful since neither waybackmachine nor archive.is function for bunkerchan and we have no equivalent for desuarchive.
>>5590 Or just form an archive system in bunkerchan?
There is like 4 or 5 different music threads. what's the point of this duplication?
check these
GETS NIGGA
>>5594 checked
>>5593 >>5594 >>5595 pointless shit >>>/GET/ lost, this is a moderation thread.
Oi mods, why are so many images 404ing after being posted? Is Space being a cunt again?
>>5597 Some electrical infetterence occured while deleting old, orphaned files.
>>5598 💲💲💲Electrical interference💲💲💲
While I approve of loose moderation... you guys aren't doing anything at all! There are 3 separate batman threads and 2 Joker threads. I suggest deleting the threads with almost no posts in them since its just spam at this point.
>>5600 test
I'm be banned in /ref/ but okay in /hobby/. What's the problem?
>>5602 >I'm be banned in /ref/ Are you still banned?
>>5599 More like state interference.
>>5602 Most bans are bans from a specific board IIRC
mods, bumplock /leftyfashion/ and if you're able switch it over to >>>/fash/
>Mod feedback thread Here is some feedback; You don't do any moderation... at all. Reported comments or duplicate threads that are asked to be taken down stay up. Where are the mods besides dog-fucker anon?
>>5607 Is this about the Naruto hate thread? I can try to clean that but it is only effective if people follow sage, report, move on.
>>5607 Deletion of threads are ultimately up to the discretion of the mods.
>>5608 I did report and nothing came of it, which is why I complained. Thanks for dealing with the crap! >>5609 The duplicate threads were clutter, thanks for deleting them. The complaint on that part was more out of exasperation than anything else because people don't seem to know how to delete their own posts.
There's a retard in here. >>9122
>>5608 faggot
>>5612 I apologize for my foul language. Sorry.
Will the game threads be moved to /games/ Or do we have two boards for games?
>>5614 Probably moved depending on what kind of content /games/ will include. I suspect things like WH40K would stay here while vidya would go there.
Reminder to use the GOD DAMN catalog
Mods, why don't you delete duplicate threads that are even REPORTED to you for your convenience?

HELLO MODS! /hobby/ is my favorite board on this chan. - /GET/ is too random and filled with constant trap and trans posting and only has 1 really active thread (trash) which is filled with such tangential conversations that it swiftly grows into a mess of cocklust RP and sharing personal shitshows - /leftypol/ isn't worth it anymore because its all just the same old arguments repeated ad nauseum in a stagnant loop: <hey fuck stalin, yay Deng >Fuck revisionist state capitalism <*ehem* anarchism is better >Anarchism lasts only so long <Muh gorillions >citations show otherwise <Why aren't you supporting reparations for blacks racists! >Idpol is cancer Etc. etc. The few threads worth looking at are all kept afloat by posts every month or so. Its all so tiresome. Roulette is more of game than an actual board... though the recent /a/ board I hope gets made into its own thing given its potential. So back to Hobby... Hobby has all my interests with leftist posters discussing them so tht I can discuss culture freely without having to deal with "reeeeee commies" or "Hitler was like Thanos maaaan" that 4chan provides in spades... So why am I writing this in the moderator thread then? The reason is simple. Hobby has no fucking moderation to speak of, its one detriment. /GET/ studiously deletes or bans any posts that offend the users. leftypol actively (if not always successfully) purges is threads and catalog of /pol/ posters/threads. With hobby the main issue is the lack of proper catalog care. Repeatedly duplicate or borderline-spam threads are put up and despite reports they remain up for weeks or months because there is no moderator response. So Mods, please do your jobs and respond accordingly. Duplicate threads can be warned to be removed by their OP or deleted if just spam. Gaming threads should be moved to /games/ Linu and tech threads go to /tech/ and other such actions. Sincerely, a user.
The Board quote at the top of all pages should be USE THE CATALOG!

Announcement >Archiving Since Bunkerchan lacks a system like Desuarchive for saving content that falls off the boards, any threads posters may have interest in should be saved at archive.is and web.archive.org (Wayback Machine) if they don't want to lose their content for future reference. Archiving content lets older posts/threads be found faster (especially if you repost the archive link in another relevant thread). This subsequently offsets pointless rehashing and other wasteful issues in threads. It also means that images that were once posted here are still saved for you even if they have been deleted in other places on the internet or if your hard-drive goes FUBAR. Reminder <Images When using Wayback Machine/Archive.is to archive pages, remember that any images you wish to archive in full resolution must have their html archived separately. In other words, you have to open the image in another tab, copy the link and save it in the archive(s). This is especially important with spoilered images, since they won't be even visible in an archived page unless saved individually. This may be a lot of work but if you want those images you'll do it, even casually saving 1 image a day per thread will already be helpful. Both Archive.is and Wayback Machine have optional free browser extensions for easier use.

Can we have the option to make typed text show up like in the format/typeset as in old timey 1980s/90s computers? Pic related
>>5622 0. Assuming Windows, install MSYS2 1. pacman -S elinks-git 2. ???? 3. PROFIT On a legit OS you may want to open elinks (or links, or lynx, or w3m) in a Cool-Retro-Term instance.

>>5622 >>5623 picrelated
>>5622 >>5623 >>5624 But that obviously leaves you without the "images" part of an imageboard (though you can open them in an external viewer). In a browser, you can add custom CSS (userstyle) using the Stylish extension. In conclusion, DIY, comrade! Use the means of production the FOSS movement has already seized for ya. Leave the admins to the task of maintaining the commons

Can someone modify pic related with /a/, /hobby/ and /leftypol/ ?
Why don't you act on reports and delete spam you fags?
Requesting threads get a bumplock limit of 750 like we used to.

Since we STILL don't seem to have any rules I decided to make/repost some good ones that we should follow 0. Follow general site rules (when they're made) 1. Don't disrupt the board with repeated spam, bad faith derails, drama, bait, etc. - 1a. Don't go out of your way to be antagonistic or hateful. Rants and rage-posts are one thing, bad faith shitposts are another - 1b. Try to cultivate discussion in your threads and don't just dump images or shitpost, you have >>>/GET/ for that 2. If you have a singular, specific request/subject you should look for a suitable thread. Don't be selfish; use catalog and scroll-search. 3. Spoiler NSFW images 4. Advertising your personal chatroom, site, server, board, etc. is allowed, but may be deleted if it is considered to be spam. Discord will always be deleted. Use something like Telegram instead. 5. Do a reverse image search before you request for the source to an image. Auto
>>5630 >3. Spoiler NSFW images I'd add a caveat that tasteful, non-lewed nudity shouldn't need to be spoilered
>>5634 I had added a big red letter warning in the OP of the thread for the last 48h before moving it, if you have been unable to look at the OP I can't do anything for you.
Unlock the self improvement thread, NOW
>>5726 there already is one, we can't have everything in duplicate.
