VGM discussion thread Comrade 05/24/2020 (Sun) 17:22:17 No. 662
share classics, discuss what soundchip/soundfont/synth/whatever the fuck is the best, worship Shinji Hosoe tracker/demoscene/chiptune stuff is welcome too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fv-2XIhmxPE
>Shinji Hosoe Pretty good but overrated. Now the duo of Kou Hayashi and Daisuke Nagata are amazing.

>>664 That is really fucking good. Do you have more early 2000s arcade stuff to recommend? That specific period of time is quickly becoming a golden era for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUP_yAmJbNU (doesn't really fit the bill, but still)
>>684 I played the XX series religiously until Ishiwatari and the rest of AWS betrayed me with Xrd. Ishiwatari's music since Overture hasn't really impressed me, and I get the sense that he might have been a one-trick pony since most of his good themes really just stole riffs from classic heavy metal songs. Guilty Gear Isuka on the other hand has a great little original soundtrack that he had nothing to do with.

Why don't we hear about them more often? Theses OSTs were totally different than japanese ones for consoles at the same time, because of the technology but also in the composition. The MT-32 is my dream machine, I currently own a SC-88 that I used for Touhou and it was... something.
