>>1655 >Who cares about Revachol more? Joyce or Evart It's up to you what you believe, but, I think, it's implied that Claires did nothing wrong, and are all around brilliant. Also that a struggle or a revolution can't be accomplished wearing white gloves
>>1655 Small interesting thought, I think Joyce is more of a Mozovian tham Claire. Even though she is said to be an ultralib by the game website, I think by the time we meet her she is just a pathetic, disilusioned and sad woman who realised Mazov was right all along (she, out of all characters, sounds the most as an actual Marxist in her view of the world). However, being doomerpilled and likely heavily damaged by exposure to the pale, she just let's herself to the flow, staying as a corporate pmc tool for a company that is implied to slowly go bankrupt since it doesn't even matter to her.
>>1883 In that regard, Joyce is like Elon Musk. She's smart, she realizes that what she does is mad, inhumane and pointless, but, apart from some self-consolating rhetoric, she's 100% on board. Also, I assume you didn't actually manage to unlock "true" nature of either Joyce or Claire - which both are quite essential. Joyce is a board member. She tries hard to: "pose as middle class" and style it as if there's no class difference between her, Harry, and Martinaise residents.
>>1885 She could also be really great at diplomacy and telling what others want to hear, as she was first introduced to us. But it's less possible because she saw the Pale and the greatness of it makes everything look pointless in comparison.
>>1885 Idk forsaking the port seemed like the humane choice over the profitable one. She was even freaking out over what the soldiers might do despite the company losing no PR over it.

Has anyone played this yet? It just came out today on Switch and I thought I would give it a shot. So far, it's actually pretty fun. It's like a more violent 2d pikmin with an explicit anti-capitalist message. https://youtu.be/A6fqavi8Too

>>1706 They noticed and later changed it so that the funding would go directly to BLM at the local level, except for $5k to the national BLM (which has probably been hijacked.)
>>1808 Still incredibly shady. BLM is a decentralized social media movement, that's like saying you're going to make a donation to "the gamergate". Who the fuck is "BLM" the organization which all these phony corporations claim to be donating to lately?
>>1697 >but I didn't find the gameplay fun. the heck you mean? it was fun as heck
>>277 >mfw having fun playing the game >realize I may be targeted by my government for playing such a game I kinda wish you recruit from various types of buildings. Seems like you only recruit from factories.
>>1824 you're allready visiting an ultra left image board, you're probably allready on multiple fbi lists anyways...

I'm gonna make one if we dont if there's interest
Do yourself a favour and stop playing osrs. It's a skinnerbox in all its facets. Ditch that game and get a grindy hobby like drawing or music that you can actually improve at and get actual results in.
>>1782 That applies to every video game.

For the next week Itch.io will be helping out BLM by selling a bundle of 1,470+ games for $5. Half of the money goes to the NAACP, the other half goes to the Defense and Educational Fund and the Community Bail Fund. It's basically like action 52 all over again so there's a lot of shitty games, but there are some gems and very creative games mixed in. So it's worth it, because there's more entertainment here than in a year long subscription to Netflicks. It'll take me a long time to go through them, but if I discover any gems I'll talk about them. https://www.engadget.com/itch-io-racial-justice-game-bundle-023655179.html
I got this bundle, some fun stuff in there with demsoc/socdem themes too (since most people in this collection are lefties), I enjoyed Democratic Socialism Simulator and Death and Taxes and enjoyed both of them letting me build my utopia.

ITT: Reccommend great games that can run on any PC (or at least any PC made in the 2010's).

>>1598 >La Mulana and it's remake and sequel Sadly, the sequel is made on Unity and will NOT run on a potato computer. It's a great game but there's absolutely no excuse that a pixel graphics game can't run on integrated GPU
>>1563 Team Fortress 2
KotoR 1 and 2 Tropico 1 and 2 Rogue Legacy Cuphead (heard it runs well on potatoes) Kremlin Games Victoria 2 Undertale and Deltarune (I'd imagine even total potatoes run these) Old Medal of Honor games Return to Castle Wolfenstein Dragon Age: Origins (might be a stretch, but I think it should work) Fallout NV (ran this on my shitty 2006 knock of laptop few years back when main computer broke down, while low fps, it worked)
My recommendations are I guess: Visual Novels (I like Analogue: A Hate Story) Dwarf Fortress and its lesser known cousin Liberal Crime Squad (one of my favourite games tbh) Old school RPGs like Baldurs Gate Old school shooters like Deus Ex

>>1590 Yeah "2010s" covers everything from present day (even midrange cellphones now have quad-core 2>GHz CPUs, 3> GB RAM, Vulkan-capable GPUs, & 720p screens) back to 2010 (netbook/nettop PCs with <2GHz single-core CPUs, <1GB RAM, D3D6/OGL2 GPUs, and sub-XGA screens were sold in large quantities) Note that if you're fortunate enough to be using a desktop with at least a single PCIe x8 slot (even a crappy low-profile/riser one without dedicated electricity), you can massively increase the number of games it can play by spending $40 on a GPU and more RAM from eBay. >>1598 >Emulation, even my mid 00's potato could emulate N64 and PSX games >And of course, any PC game made in the early 00's or before should work unless it was a cutting edge title. This. Note that depending on how new your OS is, you might have to multiboot or use emulators for older PC games, with the recommended emulators being DOSBox for Windows 3.11 and older (or better yet play Mac/Amiga/Atari/X68k/Towns/etc. ports if they exist since WinTel was utter dogshit before 95), PCEm for Windows 95-to-XP. If you have Linux installed, WINE has perfect compatibility with a surprising number of ancient Windows games that newer versions of Windows don't. Backward compatibility across Windows Vista/7/8/10 is generally perfect, with only an occasional trip to PC Gaming Wiki needed for usually simple fixes. Some useful wikis: https://vsrecommendedgames.miraheze.org/wiki/Main_Page >generally pretty good newbie recommendations and brief descriptions of the best games for various platforms, eras, and genres. note that some redditor shit taste contamination occured in the early '10s, though this has mostly been cleaned up by /v/irgins. http://emulation.gametechwiki.com/ >thorough yet approachable up-to-date guide to emulators, emulation configuration, and underlying technology technology https://pcgamingwiki.com/ >exhaustive game-by-game guides for compatibility, configuration, optimization, bugfixes, and quality-of-life mods/hacks for pc games of all ages

>mysterious plague ravages world >lockdown imposed >waves of unrest and rioting break out >fake war between america and china distracts from crisis >turns out it was all the the result of extradimensional zombie cthulhu Is CDDA the unintentional game of the year for 2020? Post-apocalyptic survival roguelike, get it here: https://cataclysmdda.org/ Also, get the only good tileset here: https://github.com/SomeDeadGuy/UndeadPeopleTileset
Can someone write a short starter's guide? I get into the game and have no clue what to do
While it's a bit outdated, the wiki is a useful aid, in particular there's a set of guides, such as this one about surviving through the first day: http://cddawiki.chezzo.com/cdda_wiki/index.php?title=The_First_Day Before that, remember to play the tutorial, to familiarize yourself with the UI.
After attempting to play the game properly like a fuckin dumbass I made a throwaway character as a half-fish mutant, hijacked a military humvee with a full tank of gas and did doughnuts in a dead suburb running over zombies, mutants and warlocks until I smashed into a church dying instantly. CDDA was my first roguelike and it absolutely hooked me for a year. I would probably still play it if I had the time.

Let's create a FOnline 2 faction Anonymous Gamer 05/07/2020 (Thu) 19:07:56 No. 1 [Reply] [Last]
fuck that 76 crap, this is true fallout(I hope you've all played the og game). we need 500k caps to create a faction, I've allready gathered 1230. Beginner's guide: https://wiki.fonline2.com/Beginner%27s_Guide just some quick tipps: 1.the place were you start, there's some flint on the ground, look arround and take it, craft a "primitive tool" using it and chop some of the trees. wood is usefull to craft all sort of things. 2.you can interact with trashcans and other such things to scavenge crafting materials. 3.write down your password(and even name) somewhere, there doesn't seem to be a way to recover them if you forget them.

>>1 Haven't played since literal years, was part of the TTTLA. Good times, but dunno if I will ever return, I mean, the gameplay is pretty meh and I try to not start playing another mmo. >>417 Then get secret police and repress the capitalists for no particular reason.
>>417 >>417 Tropico 4, when I played it and got the mechanics was easy as fuck, normal that the capitalist faction is happy, it's almost impossible to fail in that game.
>>416 All you have to do to appease Capitalists is make a lot of money, which, coincidentally, is also what you have to do before you can accomplish anything else. There is no reason not to have at least 80% with every faction, although I sometimes go full Fedora mode and never build any religious buildings just because I can. It is kind of hard, because you have to make sure entertainment, housing, medical, etc all stay really high to compensate for everyone's abysmal Religious satisfaction, but after you get Newspapers and Schools indoctrinating everyone into Militant and Communist the Religious faction just fades away.
I never got into playing it after the first Tropico, because I heard they're the same and they just keep remaking the game the same way.
>>418 >have multiple death squads patrolling just shooting capitalists and religious fucks on sight people saying violence dont work just dont use it correctly >Newspapers and Schools indoctrinating everyone into Militant and Communist the Religious faction just fades away. nice

2D pixel art > modern 3D art No matter how high a resolution you render at, no matter how many bloated lighting effects you shove into a game, you will never be able to compete with the love and care put into hand-placed pixels. Prove me wrong. You can't.

Ok, I guess I am just gonna drop some of my hot takes about graphics: AoE2, an RTS from the 1999's, looks better than than every single other RTS up to basically Starcraft 2. Even Dawn of War 2, which came out a whole decade later, looks like shit in comparison when you look from the modern day. The lesson? If you can't use 3D competantly, or if it doesn't add anything, don't do it. Le realism meme is a fucking waste of time. First, it never did and most likely never will look real. RDR3, the single most over-designed game probably ever tried its damnedest, but the characters still unmistakably aren't real humans, not even close. And the worst part is if you fuck up at this goal, which seems pretty common, you'll create uncanny valley abominations (ME:A, to some slight extent Control come to mind). While it is nice to see graphical fidelity improve over time, this does not mean that you need to bend over backwards for perfect realism. WoW is the single best looking 3D game right now, and basically was for as long as it existed. This relates back to the previous point. 3D is not a good method for realism, so why not scrap the idea and embrace the strengths of such graphics? WoW, through the use of highly stylized and cartooney graphical design shows this. Don't do graphics for graphics sake. Pretty obvious point I believe. Does anyone remember "Rise: Son of Rome" or "Order [19th century date]"? Not really, because they were only there to show ebin new tech. However, let's then look at the previously mentioned Control. At first glance it might seem that it too is only a glorified graphical presentation, however here the tech doesn't come as a detriment to the other content of the game, and comes as a nice complement to it. The "let's just don't care about graphics" argument is pretty stupid. While there is validity to the point, primarily that a ton of modern games are golden graphics-glazed turds, it doesn't change the fact that Dwarf Fortress, the game adhering to this philosophy, is pretty fucking unplayable without modded tilesets, and even then, due to how even these are pretty rough, have it's over-simplistic graphics hurt the over all enjoyability.

>>1587 >WoW is the single best looking 3D game right now, and basically was for as long as it existed. I am pretty sure this is either bait or you are posting from 2004, but I'll reply anyway. Have you not seen BotW? Sekiro? If we're strictly discussing MMOs, FF14 crushes WoW when it comes to art and has been doing so for 10 years now. Even GW2 looks much better. It always bored me that the armor/clothes in WoW were all strictly confined to the shape of the model itself (except for head and shoulder armor). The pieces do not "pop out" of the model. It makes characters incredibly dull to look at because their silhouettes are all more or less exactly the same. Compare with this FF14 screenshot. The armor is original and much more interesting to look at, the silhouette varies wildly between characters with the same base model. That's not even mentioning the environments, which also look better than WoW, and guild housing which has an enormous amount of cool items to decorate with. But anyway I agree with you wholeheartedly that realism fucking sucks, as does the barrier to entry for DF. I can't play Path of Exile for the same reason, it looks hideous.
>>1587 >if it doesn't add anything, don't do it. I agree with this point, but you also can say the same about pixel shit. Company of Heroes for example is a 3D RTS by design and would not work as a 2D game no matter how pretty you make the pixel art (or hand drawing). In contrast, in Age of Empires III the 3D didn't add anything but unnecessary and tedious camera management, reduced the size of maps (muh circles) and was probably a cynical business decision to move graphic cards in the mid 00s. >WoW is the single best looking 3D game right now Wait you're absolutely delusional lol.
(144.21 KB 1280x720 Hovernet2.jpg)
>>1605 >Company of Heroes for example is a 3D RTS by design and would not work as a 2D game no matter how pretty you make the pixel art (or hand drawing) A great example of this is UFO:AI, an X-COM knockoff built on the Quake II engine. Though just a normal overhead TBT game UI-wise, it uses the the 3D models to determine where bullets hit and contact explosives detonate using 3D collision detection, stealth/visibility, and physics simulation with level geometry to calculate how things like grenades bounce and roll, instead of just doing tabletop-style dicerolls. This also means switching to a soldier's 1st-person view to check LoS/LoF is sometimes useful. As such, UFO:AI using 3D graphics, even when inspired by a game (X-COM) that was already mechanically 3D using 2D graphics, adds something that would be mechanically impossible with 2D graphics.
