Does anyone have any idea when the sequel to BOTW is coming out?
>>516 No, not even the developers.
Is Skyward Sword worth playing on emulator without a wii motionplus? I tried to get into BotW but I think it's kinda tedious, I'd rather play one of the old, braindead 3D zeldas and SS is the only one I haven't played yet. >>514 I grew up with 64 and it was the first videogame I beat all by myself, but I cannot go back to it, the camera controls require certain dedication to master and the worlds feel pretty soulless
>>518 The motion plus is what really makes SS gameplay special, especially certain boss fight, so I don't know how enjoyable the game would be without it. >I grew up with 64 and it was the first videogame I beat all by myself Speaking of first games, I remember the first game I completed by myself was Wario Land 1 when I was 5. I remember I would play it on rainy afternoons (because otherwise my mom would take me to the park) on my bed and she would bring me toasts with butter and I would smear grease all over my gameboy which made it more difficult to play. I took 1 whole year to complete it, I think the big sprites and the simple but memorable music made it mesmerizing for the little kid I was. Moreover, it's a slow paced platformer with emphasis on exploration so this might have helped me as a kid. I really miss the Wario Land games.
>>518 You 100% need the special snowflake controls for the game to work at all. They'll probably never be able to remaster it like they've done with the others as a result. >>514 Mario Sunshine holds up pretty well except if you're a completionist (fucking blue coins). The worldbuilding was pretty incredible in context, since most games like that had totally disconnected worlds and it had everything in one cohesive setting. They really squeezed everything they could out of it, and the touches like seeing the other locations in the skybox was great.

>>546 I don't know about the spyware, can you expand on that?
>>549 For ages the game was packaged with a screen recorder, that automatically ran every time you started a game and send the recording to the server, and an input recorder (though that one has been turned into a feature). Eventually people found out and the then current maintainer defended the decision as an anti-cheating tool. It was slated to be removed, but I never checked if they actually did take it out of the code.
>>548 Development has been revived: https://www.stepmania.com/forums/news/show/62885 I still play it on occasion. Basically the same old, though some of the new themes are very fancy.

Alright as someone who was a fucking idiot 3 years ago when I had payed all my bills and was just sitting around with money from my summer job and ended up buying a Vive just to stop myself from buying crack(I should have gone with the crack tbh) I got Alyx and here's what I have to say about it: It's meh. Like if this wasn't a VR game it would be burned at the fucking stake for being so horribly average: There's only 4 guns(Decided to take a note from Bethesda and that gun customization made cutting the arsenal in half was OK), combat is meh at best since enemies are all bullet sponges and you can't keep a track of where your body is because you know VR. Graphics are nice but it has the same loading system as Half-Life 1 in that you go 20 feet of some tunnel before changing levels. That being said it's probably the best damn VR game I've ever played due to the fact that it's a decent game, most VR games are either $20 tech demos that have one gimmick and then lose their charm after 30 minutes or are a regular game that has VR support, so having an actual full length game being built around VR and has really good controls as well is amazing. That's not praise for the game btw, it's just the utter state of the VR industry right now. No, Skyrim/Fallout 4 don't count
>>1438 The problem with VR is it's expensive bullshit and there's 40 different versions of it. It's also usually a closed system. IDK if Valve's version is open or not. They have a history of supporting DIY and tinkering with their products, but they've moved away from that sort of mentality toward grasping at every nickel and dime they can get, being a monopoly on digital game sales now.
Is Half-Life Alyx good enough that I should try and avoid spoilers for potentially multiple years before I play it? I keep hearing the ending is mind blowing, which makes me want to see it and avoid it at the same time. >>1432 I'm necroposting here, but one must-have mod for HL2 is MMod. Basically, it takes vanilla HL2 and makes the combat actually good with revamped AI and new weapon models and ballistics. Worth it just for the MMod shotgun, it's fucking amazing, hard to describe why but it's my favorite shotgun in an FPS.
>>1442 um sorry sweaty but half alyx life is the best VR game of all time and deserves all the GOTY awards and should be enshrined in a hall of fame you're just mad because alyx is half black so it makes you want to say the gaymer word have sex incel

Steam and possibly other online digital distribution stores will be forced to let you resell games you buy from them if EU wins court case.

>>1487 >I would rather not be stuck with browser games.I want something a little more involved than a low effort Skinner box that is designed to suck money out of my wallet. Well there is no reason why browser-games ought to be low effort, but if you want to install software locally, then you need to improve the software development tools to the extend that normies can modify software. As in have in-game-code-editing with program-logic-visualisation, as well as coding-aids that have a high level of idiot proofing.
they could tax those trades much like they allready do with the community market. this could just serve as an extension to that community market.

Oldout thread Anonymous Comrade 10/24/2019 (Thu) 23:05:16 No. 2743 [Reply] [Last]
Old Fallout discussion, politics themes in the games and basic dunking on the shallowness of Bethesda's Fallouts.

Fallout 1&2 had some pretty anti-capitalist messages that never showed up in 3&4 methinks and the whole point of the series was shining light overexploitation and human conflict being self-destructing.

>>2758 On the subject of Arcanum. Playing it makes me realized how ridiculous /pol/‘s view of society are, where sentient creatures still have their nature decided to be some arbitrary bullshit in the case of the orcs in the game and how even as much as they hate to admit it their views stemmed from religious creationism. But it’s still annoying to me how the only quest that deals with this is the quest about stopping the orc rebellion.

Deus Ex Series thread Anonymous Comrade 10/26/2019 (Sat) 00:46:42 No. 2683 [Reply] [Last]
I just started playing the original Deus Ex after watching Sseth's video on it recently, and I'm hooked. I played the new games a couple years which were also great, they introduced me to Cyberpunk. Thoughts on the series?

>My only critique so far is that sneaking is basically pointless because I always get spotted when I shoot no matter what, although I suspect I'll be able to upgrade in the future so that this doesn't happen.
you have more success being sneaky if you use melee weapons(aim for the back) or silent projectile weapons like the crossbow(you get silencers later)

Reminder there was nothing wrong with the ending of Mankind Divided.
>b-b-but the main plot is unresolved
"No".
The game starts with you witnessing a terrorist attack, the game follows you tracking down the terrorist group and their leader, and the game ends with you stopping their leader.
>b-b-but the loose threads
Why does that mean the main story was not finished? The narrative was complete, the mission you embarked on was accomplished. The "loose threads" are there for clues at what is to come of the trilogy
>b-b-but that's unacceptable
Well that depends - if you like a movie series such as The Lord of the Rings, or pretty much any non-anthology tv show, then surely you don't think it's unacceptable? They have loose threads that won't be resolved until the sequel/followup, so why do you treat Mankind Divided differently?
>>2695
the terrorist attack is immediately shown to be a false flag for some higher up conspiracy, and that's the main plot. the terror group is a sideshow. Jensen being a double agent trying to take down the illuminati takes up as much if not more playtime than dealing with the terror group. It'd be like Deus Ex 1 ending after you get to lebedev. There was clearly more to the story.
>>2695
>They have loose threads that won't be resolved until the sequel/followup, so why do you treat Mankind Divided differently?
I don't like Witcher 2, but one problem it didn't have was this one. The story within the game was done well enough that ending it on a cliffhanger didn't bother anyone. Mankind Divided dropped the ball, and very clearly for trying to squeeze as much as they could out of fans.

I've only played through it twice, and in one "session" so maybe i'll lighten up on it if I ever replay it, but I don't feel an urge to. Whereas with every other game in the series I have gone back to multiple times. It wasn't awful, I had fun playing it, it just wasn't at the level of the rest of them.
>>2694
>use melee weapons(aim for the back)
ah fuck, never tried that. thanks for the pointer.

Dark Heresy Game Night Anonymous Comrade 10/29/2019 (Tue) 03:43:44 No. 2765 [Reply] [Last]
Date, rules, setup and polling for the Dark Heresy game,

If you're gonna play just give a reply saying so and also we still need a GM and to decide on what supplements we're using, character sheets etc.

And the date. That bit's important.

Weeelll... it's not the system I would have picked, but it would be fun to play with /leftypol/ bros, so sure, I'll play. Not at a GM though, I don't have enough organisation skills etc.

Alright I'm doing a strawpoll because nobody seems to bother even saying "ya I'm in" and we still haven't even got a GM or anything yet, so if we could move things along a little.

lel. maybe we should just play quest themed after dark heresy. I'm sure someone on fullchan /tg/ must have tried it at one point.

also I apologize for not being responsive OP. I thought I was getting day off this week for sure but my boss decided to fuck me over by cancelling my vacation. damn it feels good to be wage slave

Mate, with these kinds of things, it needs to be the DM that pushes it. They are doing more work than all the players put together, you can't just draft something else into doing it. I would like to play something too but the players are just receiving the DM's kindness.

I didn't expect CK3 so soon. I assume the base game will be better planned around the release of DLC. Hopefully the intrigue, politics, and general RPG elements are better thought out. I'm guessing the game will be shallow and bare-bones on launch given the current trend with Paradox games.

I don't see what this has to do with my post.
>>2740
Because you were expressing hope for the politics and RPG elements in CK3, AKA the core elements of the game.....from paradox......in 2019(or whatever year CK3 comes out in). Poor soul.
>>2741
I said I hope for improvements, but then immediately made clear I expect a shallow game given the current trend with Paradox games.
