Finally watched Kino no Tabi after a years-old recc, and I'm curious what the broader analysis on it is, and where we figure it stands. I found the 2003 series was pretty left on a few topics, specifically how many countries provide an allegory for the flawed and ideological way people perceive work and its purpose. However I've been seeing a few wrinkles to that. I can't help but notice all the times in Kino no Tabi that a revolution against a king is exactly what causes a country to fail (not all but most, and most successful revolutions have the monarch secretly still hanging around,) begging the question of whether the show/books is ultimately projecting a Burkean outlook on the world. This is compounded by how much emphasis is placed on the individual, though this is somewhat inevitable considering it focuses on a solitary wandering protagonist. However that emphasis on personal responsibility could be easily reframed in a negative way; it would be easy for some right-winger to interpret "country of radio waves" in the 2017 anime, where random murders are blamed on a radio tower that turns out to no longer exist, so that the any sort of institutional critique explaining crime could be imposed metaphorically on the tower, reducing societal dysfunction to purely individual choices. I know that since there have been Kino stories for 20 years, most of what I've said may well be overturned in another tale--but do my my critiques stick? What do YOU make of Kino no Tabi? Also: Kino's 2003 hat is superior to the 2017 hat.

So what animu does Bunkerchan like?

I really love any anime that has something to do with uchuu!

What Cal Arts animu are good?
>>5122 >>>/hobby/ m8 But to answer your question, almost none. Gravity Falls and Gumball are about the only ones worth watching and more for the story than the animation.

>>4459 I personally saw the Big O as the best shit ever and I think the whole point is that WAKE UP SHEEPLE WE ALL LIVE IN A SIMULATION was an amazing plot contrivance considering when it was aired. Another great anime about Giant robots which is 2deep for people is Giant Robo which is so fucking deep that people have written huge essays on it just like Big O, the tl;dr is that its a deconstruction of Mecha from before EVA and instead of being purely depressing it has some really interesting takes on revenge and religious symbolism, etc.
Shin sekai yori is either ghoulishly liberal or an amazing satire of liberalism, i choose to believe the latter so i can continue enjoying it Lain and NGE are good, of course Golden Kamuy is a little nature guide thru hokkaido and Sakhalin as well as unique historical fiction, and is worth following just for those aspects There are others (Monster, for example), but they're more well known and less worth mentioning. Giant robots are shit btw
>>5181 Oh also Mushi-shi, i really like the folktale style it has.

Why is there no anime about the Mexican revolution!? おたく 10/16/2020 (Fri) 21:38:04 No. 4207 [Reply] [Last]
I mean, just imagine that shit. You have a cast of unique and unforgettable characters with their own unique personalities. >Emiliano Zapata >Pancho Villa >Porfirio Diaz >Felix Diaz >Victoriano Huerta >Madero >Obregon >Carannza >Reyes >Orozco >The US Ambassador who orchestrated the Ten Tragic days >countless more generals and noteworthy people You have several phases of the revolution which are all characterized by insane betrayals and twists that can be turned into their own story arcs and seasons

Do you have anything to say about this man?

One of my favorite works of Miyzaki's is Princess Mononoke, it contains social themes, historical themes and mythology of Japanese culture, blended into an excellent story.
Here's an interaction with a reporter who ambushed Miyazaki for a impromptu interview

I'm calling Asushin victory in the next Evangelion. I'm basing this a process of elimination and the ending of EoE. Kaworu is dead, Rei will be used in the instrumentality and Mari doesn't fit the ending thematically. Since the instrumentality will be started with 01 and Asuka lacks her Evangelion it's safe to assume she'll be in the middle of it. Barring Anno dropping a brick on her head she'll be the last one standing with a confesion. Tic toc Mariasufags, tic toc.

>the next Evangelion It genuinely blows my mind that this pretentious dumpster fire is still getting milked in the year 2020.
>>5100 NGE is unironically one of the best series I have ever seen in my entire life, 2D or 3D. I don't think it's pretentious at all. It's fan base, maybe. The movies seem to be milking off the brand, though.

Is anime inherently captialist? おたく 10/09/2020 (Fri) 19:20:57 No. 4024 [Reply] [Last]
It's linked to capitalism, sure, but is it being a bad comrade to watch anime?

I want to read this VN but it's so fucking loooooooooooooong
>>911 it's worth it even if you want to read just one of the routes, additionally, it's not that plot-heavy nor dense and the characters are memorable - reading it on and off is fine, I myself have been doing this for around a year and I'm not done with every game of the series yet

Hi there, fellas. So if you're into anime, could you please give some references sites that can make our own anime chara? Only a few I know, picrew.me & charat.me
Sailor Senshi Maker is the only one I know of.
